B.Sc. NURSING ENTRANCE TEST (Female Candidates Only)

For Admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course in Government/Private Nursing Colleges in Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Pradesh University will conduct the Entrance Test for admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course for female candidates only in Sister Nivedita Govt. College of Nursing, IGMC, Shimla and Private Nursing Colleges/Institutions situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh (Department of Medical Education & Research) in accordance with the provisions contained in Chapter-XIV of the First Ordinance of the Himachal Pradesh University (as amended from time to time) as also in accordance with the policy programs, Rules, and Regulations framed for the same by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh from time to time.

-Eligibility And Educational Qualifications

  • Female Children of Bonafide Himachali/Domicile/Himachal Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government will only be eligible to apply for admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course through Entrance Test to be conducted by H.P. University, Shimla in Sister Nivedita Govt. College of Nursing, IGMC, Shimla, and Private unaided B.Sc. Nursing Colleges/Institutions situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
  • For filling up of 50% Management Quota Seats in Private un-aided B.Sc. Nursing Colleges in State of Himachal Pradesh, there will be no domicile requirement. Under this quota, both Himachali and Non-Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualification and age, etc
  • Admission to married candidates will be allowed subject to the production of medical fitness certificates.
  • The age of the candidates should be between 17 to 35 years
  • A candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from H.P. Board of School Education/AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other Board/University established by law in India in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English individually with 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology took together in qualifying examination will be 40% instead of 45% as stated above. Provided further that English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc.(Nursing) course. The candidate should be medically fit
  • The candidates who appeared in the 10+2 examination and their results are not yet been declared may also apply for this test, but their admission will be made if they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed in the prospectus at the time of the Ist round of counseling.*
  • Note: (i) The candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination from the National Institute of Open School or appeared in 10+2 examination Science (Medical) conducted by the National Institute of Open School can also apply to this test. (ii) The above qualifications will only determine the eligibility of a candidate for admission, but the actual basis of admission shall be on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate(s) in the Entrance Test.

-Syllabus & Pattern of the Entrance Examination: 

  1. The Entrance Test shall consists of one written paper only in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry (including Organic Chemistry), Biology and English (including General Knowledge/current affairs) in accordance with the syllabi of studies based on NCERT books of the academic session according to which the 10+2 (includes 11th and 12th classes) examination was conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education in the year of the Entrance Test.
  2. The medium of examination shall be English.
  3. The question paper will have 100 (One Hundred) MCQ objective type questions of one mark each. Each question has four options i.e. A, B, C & D. Out of which only one will be the correct option. The duration of the Entrance Test will be 2 hours. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The question paper will be in English language only.

-Declaration Of Result And Merit List 

  • The minimum qualifying marks of the entrance test for admission to B.Sc. Nursing degree course shall be 35% for General & its sub-categories, and 30% for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes & their sub-categories and Physically Handicapped candidates.
  • The result of all the candidates appeared in the entrance test will be declared and made available on the website of the University. No detail marks cards will be sent to the candidates

-Admission Procedure

For Govt. Nursing Colleges and State/ Management Quota Seats in Private Nursing Colleges/ Institutions:

  • State Quota: Only those Female Children of Bonafide Himachali/Domicile/ Children of H.P. Govt. Employees and Employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh who qualified the Entrance Test will be considered in order of merit of the Entrance Test for admission to B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course in Govt./Private Nursing Colleges subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as contained in the Prospectus.
  • Management Quota: However, for Management Quota Seats, the above conditions do not apply and the candidates who have qualified the Entrance Test irrespective of having above status shall be considered for admission to B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course in order of Merit of Entrance Test in private Nursing colleges subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as contained in the Prospectus.

Admission to 2 Years Post- Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course (Female Candidates only) in Government/Private Nursing Colleges/Institutions in Himachal Pradesh:-

 

The female applicants may apply for Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Entrance Test online Application Form only through the website www.admissions.hpushimla.in & www.hpuniv.ac.in.The Admission form as attached in the prospectus duly completed in all respects along with attested photocopies of documents is to be submitted personally by the qualified candidates at the time of counseling/admission. The qualified candidates have to produce original certificates/documents for verification at the time of counseling. 

Eligibility, Educational Qualifications And Other Conditions For Admission:-

1. Admission to Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree course shall be made on the basis of merit of the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University Shimla for which the female candidates only are eligible subject to fulfillment of the following conditions:-

 a) The candidates should be registered as Registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM) with H.P. State Nurses Registration Council, Shimla at the time of counseling. However, the Himachali Bonafide Candidates who completed their GNM Diploma outside the State and registered themselves in the concerned State Registration Nursing Council shall be registered with the HPNRC, Shimla within 3 months from the date of admission. Provided further that the candidates belonging to another state of the country should be registered in their respective State Nurses Registration Council and at the time of Counseling, they must produce NOC for 7 pursuing their higher studies outside the state from the Registrar of the concerned State Registration Council. 

b) The candidate must have passed 10+2 and its equivalent examination from recognized Board/University established by Law in India with minimum of 40% aggregate marks. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the required percentage of aggregate marks will be 35%.

 c) The candidate must have obtained 50% marks in General Nursing & Midwifery from the School/Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council/Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council. 

d) The distribution of seats between In-Service and Direct candidates in respect of Sister Nivedita Government Nursing College, IGMC, Shimla will be made in the ratio of 70:30. However, a 200 points vertical reservation roster will be applied afresh for distribution of seats among General, SC, ST, and OBC categories and no horizontal reservation roster will be applied.

 2. For In-Service Quota Seats: 

a) In-service quota seats are to be filled up by in-service regularly appointed Nursing Cadre candidates of Govt. of H.P. subject to fulfillment of the condition as laid down under clause – 13 of the prospectus. However, adhoc & contractual appointees including appointees of Rogi Kalyan Samities will also be considered under this quota subject to fulfillment of the condition of the prospectus. The candidates must have completed minimum 5 years service on the last date of submission of application form. 

b) The candidates should not have attained maximum of 50 years of age as on 31st December, 2020.

 c) The Counseling –cum-Admission form along with required documents in respect of In-Service candidates shall be submitted through their respective Head of Departments well within the stipulated date along with Service Certificate-cum-NOC (Appendix-5) at the time of counseling.

 3. For Direct Quota Seats: Direct quota seats will be available for open competition from amongst:- 

a) The Bonafide Himachali/Domicile candidates/Children of H.P. Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government, who have done their GNM course from GNM Schools/Institutions anywhere in India duly recognized by the Indian Nursing Council/H.P. State Nurses Registration Council. OR The candidates should be GNM trained from the recognized Govt./Private GNM Schools/ Institutions situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh. 

(b) For filling up Direct Seats under Management Quota in Private Nursing Colleges in State of Himachal Pradesh, there will be no domicile requirement. Under this quota, both Himachali and Non-Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as prescribed in the prospectus. 

(c) The age of candidates should be between 17 to 35 years as on 31st December,. However, upper age can be relaxable by 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates. The candidates will ensure that they must fulfill the above condition. Age, as recorded in the matriculation certificate, will be entertained

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS 

The distribution of seats between in-service and direct group/quota in Sister Nivedita Nursing College, IGMC, Shimla shall be made in the ratio of 70:30. Further, a 200 points vertical reservation roster will be applied for the distribution of seats among General, SC, ST, OBC & Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories and no horizontal reservation roster will be applied.

The pattern of the Entrance Examination : 

The examination shall consists of one written paper only in the subjects mentioned hereunder in accordance with the syllabi of GNM studies. The medium of examination shall be English. The question paper will be objective (MCQ) type. There will be only 4 (Four) options in each question i.e. A, B, C & D. Out of which one of the option will be the correct. Total questions will be 150 (one hundred fifty). Each question will carry 1 (one) mark. The duration of the Entrance Test will be 2 (two) hours. There will be No Negative Marking for a wrong answer

Admission Procedure 

a) For Govt. Nursing College and State/Management Quota Seats in Private Nursing Colleges/Institutions.

 (i) State Quota: Only those female Children of Bonafide Himachali/Domicile/Children of H.P. Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh who qualified the Entrance Test conducted by H.P. University subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as contained in the Prospectus will be considered in order of merit of the Entrance test for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course. 

(ii) Management Quota: However, for Management Quota seats, the above conditions does not apply and the candidates irrespective of having above status qualified the Entrance Test shall be considered for admission to Post-Basic B. Sc. Nursing Degree in order of merit of Entrance Test subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as contained in the prospectus. 

Note: 

1. No. shifting shall be allowed from one private nursing college/institution to another private nursing college/institution under the same capacity of admission. 

2. The Principal(s) of Nursing College(s) will also check the final eligibility criteria of each candidate including settlement of discrepancy(ies), if any, as pointed out by the counseling committee as per provisions of the prospectus before admitting the candidates to the course. 

Counselling Procedure:-

  • Counselling : There will be a counselling system to allot the available seats in order of meritcum-choice of the colleges. The admission process will be completed through counselling within the specified period by the counselling committee constituted by the Director Medical Education & Research, H.P. Shimla. The counselling for the qualified candidates will be held as per schedule to be notified by the University in the H.P. University, Auditorium, Shimla-5 in accordance with the Group-wise as well as Category-wise merit list notified by the University. The merit list will be displayed on the University Website www.hpuniv.ac.in or www.admissions.hpushimla.in. The candidates are directed to check their result/merit on the said website and to make themselves present in the counselling accordingly. No separate call letters will be sent to the qualified candidates for attending the counselling.
  • If a candidate has qualified the entrance test with the minimum required percentage of marks i.e. 40% for general category candidates, 30% marks for SC/ST/OBC and 35% for GeneralPhysically Handicapped categories candidates, then her name will appear in the merit list and she will be entitled to attend the above said counselling as per schedule mentioned above along with Counselling-cum-Admission Form as attached in the Prospectus (Appendix-9) duly filled in all respects and original as well as photocopies of each certificate/document duly self-attested by the candidate as mentioned hereunder:-

(i) Print out of the Post-basic application form. 

(ii) H.P. Bonafide/Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority as per provision of Prospectus (Appendix -1 as applicable). 

(iii) Certificates of claiming Reservation under particular reserved category issued by the competent authority (Appendix-2 to 3 as applicable). (iv) Certificate of being children of H.P. Govt. Employees and Employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government as per provision of Prospectus issued by the competent authority (Appendix-4 as applicable).

 (v) Service certificate-cum-NOC as per Appendix-5 for in-service candidates only. 

(vi) Matriculation or its equivalent examination certificate. 

(vii) Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 or its equivalent examination along with details of marks in each subject. (viii) General Nursing and Midwifery Diploma.

Details Of Entrance Test:-

  • The admission to the M.Sc. Nursing Degree Course shall be on the basis of merit of Entrance Test to be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University at Shimla examination centre only on the date notified in the prospectus. The name and address of the examination centre will be communicated on the admit cards to be uploaded on the website by the University for appearing in the Entrance Test. Examination Centre once allotted to the candidate will not be changed. However, University reserves the right to allot any centre in view of exigencies.

Result & Merit List:-

  • The selection of the candidates for M.Sc.The nursing course will be on the basis of the merit of the entrance test. The minimum marks required for the selection will be 50% for candidates for the General category, 40% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe categories candidates.
  • The qualified candidates are advised to attend the counseling as per the given schedule in the merit list and ascertaining the name in the merit list which will be displayed on the University Website www.hpuniv.ac.in. and www.admissions.hpushimla.in No separate intimation will be given to the candidates in this regard.

Counselling And Admission Procedure:-

  1. There will be a Counselling system to allot the available seats in order of merit cum-choice of the candidates in the specialties. The admission process will be completed through counseling within the specified period by the Counselling Committee constituted by the Director, Medical Education & Research, H.P., Shimla-9. The counseling for all the qualified candidates will be held in the New Examination Hall, Block-D, Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla-1as per the schedule given in the category-wise/group-wise merit list notified by the H.P. University. The merit list will be displayed on the University website www.hpuniv.ac.in. and www.admissions.hpushimla.in along with counselling schedule.
  2. If a candidate has qualified the entrance test with the minimum required percentage of marks i.e. 50% for general category candidates, 40% marks for SC/ST and 45% for General-Physically Handicapped categories candidates, then her name will appear in the merit list and he/ she will be entitled to attend the above said counselling as per schedule mentioned in the merit list along with Counselling-cum-Admission Form as attached in the Prospectus duly filled in all respects and original as well as photocopies of each certificate/document duly self-attested by the candidate as mentioned hereunder:-

(i) Matriculation or its equivalent examination certificate.

(ii) Certificate of having passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination. 

(iii) General Nursing and Midwifery Diploma, Post-Basic B.Sc.Nursing/ B.Sc. Nursing marks sheets.

(vii) Certificates of claiming Reservation under particular reserved category issued by the competent authority (Appendix-2 as applicable). 

(viii) Service certificate-cum-NOC as per Appendix-5 for in-service candidates only.

 (ix) Affidavit on the plane paper in original as per Appendix-6. 

(x) Certificate of Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and B.Sc. Nursing courses from Principal/ Director/Head of the Institution from the date of registration as per Appendix-8. 

(xi) Migration certificate applicable. 

(xii) Degree of Post-Basic/B.Sc. Nursing as applicable

 (xiii) Character certificate from the Tehsildar of the Area concerned. In the case of candidates serving in the institution/college, the latest character certificate is required from the institution/college concerned.

 NOTE: 1. All original certificates are required for verification at the time of counselling. 

2. The final eligibility of the candidate will be determined by the counselling committee and the Principal. 

 3. Admission Form and documents/certificates attached therewith will not be returned in any case.

Medical Examination & Registration :-

The selected candidates will be called for medical examination and verification of the documents attached to the original Admission Form in the respective College at their own expense and the candidate should be medically fit.
