GNM admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., Government seat and Management seat. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% seats for Government, Government aided, Central Universities, National Institutes, and 20% seats for private college. 80% State management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college.
KNC Guideline For Eligibility Criteria for GNM Nursing (3 year)
In proviso to the rule 8(5) Karnataka Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors rule 1964 & Act 1961 it is informed to all the Management/Principals of Schools of Nursing in Karnataka State to follow the following guidelines strictly while admitting candidates to GNM course.
- Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
- Minimum education: 10+2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks.
- 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/ HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
- Students qualified in 10+2 arts or science examination or in health care science - vocational stream only conducted by national institute of open school with 40% marks.
- 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board with 40% marks.
- Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council.
- Student shall be medically fit.
For Foreign Nationals
The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed
B.Sc Nursing (2 years)
B.Sc Nursing admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., Government seat and Management seat. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% seats for Government, Government aided, Central Universities, National Institutes, and 20% seats for private college. 80% State management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college.
Eligibility for Government seats B.Sc Nursing (4 years)
- Pass in PUC/PDC (10+2) or passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by state Govt./ Central Govt. with English as one of the subject and Physics , chemistry & Biology as optional subjects.
- In case of the stream of vocational higher secondary course conducted by the board of vocational higher secondary examination Kerala, the candidates shall have taken subjects including English, Physics, Chemistry, & Biology individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) taken together in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates belonging to SC, ST or other backward classes, the mark obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together in qualifying examination should be a minimum of 40%.
- Candidates should produce Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka
- The candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
Eligibility for Government seats Post Basic B.Sc Nursing (2 Years)
A candidate seeking admission must:
- Hold a Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM).
- Be a registered nurse.
- Have passed pre-university examination in Arts/Science/Commerce by conducted by Department of Pre. University Education, Karnataka State or its equivalent recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
- Have knowledge of English
- Should be medically fit
- Have good personal and professional record.
- Candidates should produce Eligibility Certificate form Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka
- Age of candidate who is above 48 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission shall not be eligible.
M.Sc Nursing (2 years)
M.Sc Nursing admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., Government seat and Management seat. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% seats for Government, Government aided, Central Universities, National Institutes, and 20% seats for private college. 80% State management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college

Eligibility for Government seats M.Sc Nursing
Passed in B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing or Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing of RGUHS or any other university accepted as equivalent by RGUHS and must have obtained a minimum of not less than 55% aggregate marks. In request of candidates belonging to SC and ST, the aggregate marks obtained be not less than 50% instead 55% as above.
- Minimum of one year of experience after obtaining B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or minimum of one year of work experience in a hospital or in Nursing Educational Institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council
- Registered in any state nursing council as a registered nurse and registered midwife.
- Candidates shall be medically fit.
- Age for general category should be below 48 years and for SC/ST candidates below 50 years at the time of admission.
Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Nursing (NPCC)
Eligibility Criteria for NPCC
Candidate must possess B.Sc Nursing or PB B.Sc Nursing with State Registration and must have one year clinical experience preferably in critical care setting
